From Kevin Hart to Tchidi Chikere, meet the top three celebrities who met their new wives while still married to other women.
1. Kevin Hart.
Kevin Hart and Eniko Parrish are currently the hottest couple in town. Over the weekend, the duo finally said ‘I Do’, two years after getting engaged.
While many people celebrate with the celebrities, especially as Hart floods his Instagram with photos from their honeymoon, many won’t easily forget that Eniko was accused of destroying Hart’s seven-year marriage to ex-wife, Torrei. In her 2014 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Torrei vented, accusing Parrish of stealing her man. “I never lashed out. I never tried to punch her in the face, even though I’ve had moments where — trust and believe — I wanted to K.O. her ass,” Torrei told Entertainment Tonight. “It does hurt that my kids have to be around a woman who broke up a marriage. I was with Kevin when he was selling sneakers for five dollars an hour. I was at every show. I was at his first show where he ever did standup. I was his muse. I was there from the beginning.” However, they made peace as Torrei wished them well. And on their wedding day, she sent them congratulations.
2. Swizz Beatz
Swizz Beatz has often had to defend his wife, Alicia Keys, from folks who have refused to forget the part she played in ending his previous marriage to singer Mashonda. In 2009, Mashonda called out Alicia Keys, accusing her of destroying her marriage to the father of her son. She said in her terse note: “My concern with [Alicia Keys] is no longer the fact that she assisted in destroying a family but that she has the audacity to make these selfish comments about love and wanting to be with someone, even after knowing their situation.” “You have no idea how much pain I was caused because of this affair. If you are reading this Alicia, let me start by saying, you know what you did. You know the role you played and you know how you contributed to the ending of my marriage.” This bad blood cost Keys a lot of fans and many times, she is dragged on social media by Mashonda’s loyal fans. But the bad blood seems to have seeped out because Mashonda, for the first time, made debut appearance on Beatz Instagram last December; Swizz Beatz shared a photo of himself, Mashonda and their son Kasseem Dean Jr. at the boy’s school recital.
3. Tchidi Chikere.
Last December, Nollywood producer Tchidi Chikere and actress Nuella Njubigbo finally tied the knot at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos. And this came a year after their traditional marriage. For a while though, there was an especially messy drama between the actress and the producer’s ex-wife, Sophia Chikere. In 2012, Sophia, the mother of Chikere’s three sons, accused Njubigbo of crashing her marriage. And just before Njubigbo and Chikere’s traditional marriage in 2014, the aggrieved ex-wife laid a ‘curse’ on Njubigbo, wishing her ill. Celebrities sometimes have more than their fair share of troubles, but the new couple continue to wax stronger, and in a March post, Chikere described Njubigbo as the ‘perfect wife’.
