In delivering his mandate of restoring Manchester United to their former glory, it appears the biggest task for manager Jose Mourinho will be how to handle the massive egos of his superstars, particularly summer recruits Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.
And if the manager is under any illusion about the magnitude of the task ahead, the duo has moved to dispel them with a little grind over the weekend.
Earlier on Saturday, Ibrahimovic had declared – half-jokingly, of course – that the Frenchman had only returned to Old Trafford in order to play alongside him, Goal writes.
Now, Pogba, not one to back away from a challenge, decided to ramp the heat up a notch, posting a video with him saying: “This guy [Ibrahimovic] wants to get famous, he wants a picture with me, he wants to get famous.”
However, Ibrahimovic, who calls himself ‘god’, enjoyed the last word once more, as he cut the world record signing off by appearing in the frame and interjecting: “Come, I make you famous now.”
Pogba, 23, may have returned to Old Trafford as a King after his £90 million move, but as Yeezy asks: “What’s a king to a god?”
United take on Bournemouth in Sunday’s lunchtime Premier League kickoff, although Pogba will sit out the tie following a suspension.
