Barcelona forward Lionel Messi missing as Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and Atlético Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann lead the nominees for 2015/16 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award.
The UEFA jury will vote for the best during the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League group stage draw on Thursday, August 25 in Monaco.
Other soccer stars that made the top ten list include, Luis Suárez, Gianluigi Buffon, Pepe, Toni Kroos, Manuel Neuer, and Germany’s Thomas Müller.
Messi won the UEFA best player award in 2011 and 2015, Andrés Iniesta in 2012, Ribéry in 2014 and Ronaldo in 2014.
Norway forward Ada Hegerberg, France midfielder Amandine Henry and Germany’s Dzsenifer Marozsán are the top three nominees for the UEFA Best Women’s Player in Europe Award.
Cristiano Ronaldo is seen as favourite to pick up this year’s gong, leading Madrid to their 11th UEFA Champions league title, and also winning the recently held Euros with Portugal in France.
Can Bale or Griezmann beat Ronaldo to win the award for the first time this year?
